OTIE’s design approach is to realize our clients needs while creatively exploring the project’s environmental parameters. Results may focus on restoring native landscapes, creating places for people, or combining both to benefit and sustain a cost effective ecological solution. Our team of multi-discipline design professionals partner with environmental engineers and scientists, integrating OTIE’s 20 years of successful project delivery.

USEPA Region 5 Brownfield Land Revitalization Group contracted OTIE as an integrated approach to produce a feasibility study for urban agriculture on a Milwaukee industrial Brownfield site. OTIE assisted the City of Milwaukee by identifying and analyzing the needs and opportunities of healthy food production for a community with environmental and social constraints. Illustrated concepts generated ideas at a workshop by generating ideas of community gardening, soil building, vertical greenhouse production, and green infrastructure. The proposed concepts were evaluated with community needs, environmental constraints, and costs associated to support opportunity for urban agriculture.

Under OTIE’s 4PAE08 contract with AFCEE, we gathered a multi-disciplinary team to design and engineer upgrades for P10 military family housing at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. USGBC-LEED silver rated standards were the benchmark to achieve low maintenance landscape. A comprehensive neighborhood recreation plan was produced to include play areas, multi-purpose courts, play areas, and landscape amenities.
